This post is to introduce you to the Capron Ridge community in the 32940 of North Melbourne. The gated community is located off Viera Boulevard, between US 1 and Murrell Road. You would think that Capron Ridge is part of Viera East, but this HOA is located just outside of Viera.


Driving into the community, you will see that the gate in the gated community is open during the day. They close it from dusk to dawn. The entrance and first impression are nicely landscaped, and you’ll notice the conservation area to your right. Green spaces like this are throughout the community that also include the Capron Trail that meanders around the lake.



The community was established in 2005 and is now fully developed. You have your choice of single family homes, townhomes, or half duplexes. Capron Ridge is divided into 6 communities, all with an old Irish theme (Ashford Harbor, Cashel Village, Dublin Manor, Dunraven, Gallaway Glen, Tralee Bay Shores, and the Villas at Capron Ridge), and the streets and community names were chosen from places in Ireland.
There are 445 single family homes that were built between 2005-2023. They are from 1581 SqFt to 5243 SqFt. Depending on where you are in the community, your lot size is between 0.13 acres to 0.55 acres. Tralee Bay Shores is the exclusive section of Capron Ridge with 72 home sites, where most back up to either a water view of a preserve view. This is the gated community inside the gated community.


91 townhomes in Capron Ridge were built between 2005-2019. There are a variety of floor plans that range from 1511 SqFt to 2983 SqFt. You have a 2 car garage. They are near the pool and community center off of either Kinsale Ct or Ballinton Dr.


38 half duplexes in Capron Ridge were built between 2006-2021. Most of them were built 2006-2007. They are between 1612 SqFt and 2032 SqFt. They all have a 2 car garage. They are on Tullagee Ave.


Capron Ridge has great amenities, too. There’s the 3,000 Sqft clubhouse with a large lanai looking over the community pool. There are tennis, pickleball, shuffleboard, basketball, and volleyball courts.



What stands out with the Capron Ridge community is the green space, preserve area, the lake, the paths, and wildlife you will see. Most of the green space/preserve area around the community is part of the Capron Ridge homeowners association and surrounds most of the community.



Property taxes for Capron Ridge. You are in the 420Y District 4 tax zone. The proposed milage rate for 2025 is 12.0905. Non-Advolorem taxes were $644.55 in 2024. Something important to note is that this community does not have a CDD like parts of Viera East have. Last year, the Viera East CDD was $503.52
If the schools are important to you, the current schools for Capron Trace are Quest Elementary, Viera Middle School, and Viera High School. Eastern Florida State College is 15 minutes away. FIT is 25 minutes away.


Since Capron Ridge is located off Viera Blvd, you are in a great central location to get just about anywhere in Brevard in quickly. US 1 is less than a mile from the entrance, and I-95 is about 3 miles.
If you are in the medical field, Parrish Hospital in Titusville and Health First in Palm Bay are the extremes north and south of Capron Ridge. You can be at Parrish in about 35 minutes and Health First in Palm Bay in about 30 minutes.

The KSC main gate is 35 minutes away.
Cape Canaveral Space Center is 30 minutes away.
Patrick Space Force is 18 minutes away.
Melbourne Airport is 21 minutes away (Northrop Grumman, General Electric, Embraer, Dassault, etc)
L3Harris is up to 35 minutes away from their location at 2800 Jordan Blvd
Shopping has a plethora of options. The closest grocery store is a Winn-Dixie (probably becoming an Aldi’s soon). Publix is located on the west side of 95. A new Publix is going in on the corner of Murrell and Viera Blvd. Whole Foods is going in near 95 next to the Home Depot. The Avenue at Viera, Target, Walmart, & countless restaurants are all 10 minutes away. CostCo is 15 minutes away.



If you like to golf, you have a lot of options in just 15 minutes from the Viera area: Viera East, Durans, Baytree International, IRCC, Suntree Country Club, and the Rockledge Country Club.
The Beach is 20 minutes away. MCO is 45 minutes away. The Orlando attractions are about an hour away.
