Dog owners…are you looking for a beach on the Space Coast you can legally take your pups to? I’ve got you covered. We have 3 stretches of sand in Brevard County that are officially puppy dog approved. Make sure you share this with your friends who have pups.

The newest addition to this list is the city of Satellite Beach. They recently approved a 4 month pilot program starting January 1st 2026, through April 30th, 2026. Under the new rules, dogs can roam the sand only between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m., and must stay on a leash no longer than 7 feet. They must stay off the dunes. Owners must clean up after their pup immediately if they go poop. Break any of these rules, there are penalties. First‑time offenders get a $50 fine, rising to $100 for a second, and up to $250 for further violations — repeated violations could even get a dog impounded and an owner removed from the beach. The plan avoids the sea‑turtle nesting season (May–October), and if all goes well, city leaders might keep dog‑friendly mornings every November through April starting next year.

Some things to keep in mind…This is just for the Satellite Beach city limits. It’s not for South Patrick Shores. It’s not for Indian Harbour Beach either. Satellite Beach city limits are from Hightower Beach south to Volunteer Way. So, please check this out & abide by all the rules to show the city of Satellite Beach they made a great decision.
The OG dog beach for Brevard County is Canova Park Dog Beach, located at the east end of the Eau Gallie Causeway. There is a specific section of the beach for your pups. Use the southernmost beach crossover for the dogs to enjoy the beach. Just like in Satellite Beach, your pup must stay on a leash no longer than 7 feet. They want your dog’s collar to have their current tags showing they are up to date on their vaccinations. If your dog poops, pick it up ASAP. Do not allow your dogs to run, walk, or dig in the dunes (they are off limits for humans, too). If it is turtle season, please do not allow your dog near the marked nests. Access to the park is 7 days a week from sunrise to sunset. The dog beach section is about 700’ wide. There are signs at the north and south end letting you know if you are entering/leaving the dog friendly area, too.

Cocoa Beach also has a stretch of beach that is dog friendly on the south end of town. You can bring your dogs to the beach between 4th St South to the north side of Robert Murkshe park. Your pup must be on a leash that is up to 10’ long. You will need to clean up after your pet if they poop. Fortunately, there are pet disposal stations at each beach crossover from 4th St South to 15th St South. Cocoa Beach also has specific hours when you can have your pup at the beach. In the morning, it’s from 6am to 10am. In the afternoon, it’s 4pm to 7pm during standard time and 5pm to 9pm during daylight savings time.

Like the other dog friendly beaches, please keep your dog off the dunes and keep them away from the turtle nests.
Remember, the beach is not a dog park. This is why you need to keep your dog on a leash.
So what do you think about letting dogs on the beach? Should Brevard County and other beach towns on the Space Coast allow our 4 legged fur babies on the beach?
