There are some great communities in Merritt Island Florida. Let’s look at the Kenzel Terrace Subdivision. You might be thinking, I haven’t heard of that one; where is it at? If you ever turned onto North Tropical Trail from SR520, you probably passed it. This tiny subdivision is about ¾ of a mile north of 520 on the east side of N Tropical Trail. The 14 home community is located on Kenzel Court and has been completely built out since 2002. The first home was built in 1956, while most of the other homes were completed in late 50’s to early 1960’s. Since this is not a through street, you don’t have to worry about much traffic. Makes it an ideal place to learn how to roller skate, ride a bike, or skateboard.
What else is nearby? Merritt Island has some amazing restaurants lining 520 and Courtenay Parkway. Merritt Square Mall & the movie theater is less than 2 miles away. You have 2 Publix’s, an Aldi, Target, and WalMart within 3 miles. The beach is less than 7 miles away. If you work at the KSC, you are an easy 15-mile drive up SR3 (aka Courtenay Parkway) to the main gate to the Space Center. Port Canaveral is less than 10 miles from Kenzel Court and the Orlando International Airport is less than an hour away.
If the knowing what schools are nearby is important to you, here are the schools for the Kenzel Terrace subdivision.
If this area sounds like it is an ideal location to live, you are in luck! The home at 345 Kenzel Ct in Merritt Island is listed for sale. This one level 3 bedroom pool home was built in 1964, has 1,529 square feet of living space, is concrete block construction and is sitting on a .23 acre lot. It is evident when you enter the home, this property has been well taken care of. Tastefully painted, no popcorn ceilings and updated guest bath. The roof on this home was replaced February 2017.
Since the home is where the heart is, and the best way to someone’s heart is through food; let’s see what this kitchen has to offer. Do you want granite counters and stainless steel appliances? A nice tile backsplash? A pantry for extra storage? A breakfast bar to sit at to oversee the cook? Then this kitchen is ideal for you.
Since this is a pool home, we should step out back! You can either access the backyard and pool area from the sliding doors off the dining area or through the door on the other side of the kitchen. Through the kitchen, you enter the screened patio, which is unlike most screened patios. The screened view of the pool is retractable! Entertaining and wanting to keep a close eye on the little swimmers is very easy with this cool feature. I am sure it makes a running start for a cannonball that much easier too.
Now that we are in the backyard, did you notice how the outdoor space is set up? On the east side of the home is the work and storage area. The side door from the garage provides another access point to the yard, the double gate allows storage of a boat, RV or trailer, and there is additional storage with the shed. The west side of the yard has the swingset and is all about playtime. The entire backyard is secured with a 6 ft privacy fence.

You are surrounded by water with the Banana River on the east side of the Island and the Indian River on the west side. You are very close to the beach (less than 7 miles right down 520). You have easy access to the mainland by heading west on 520 or 528. Merritt Island has a large selection of restaurants, either the popular chains or there are some one of a kind mom & pop restaurants too. Easy access to the Space Center and Orlando too.
