Thanksgiving in Cocoa Beach is the most wonderful time of the year. Our temperatures have pulled back to an enjoyable high 70’s with the evening temperatures dipping into the 60’s…talk about paradise!

If you plan on heading to Cocoa Beach this holiday weekend…here are some things you need to put on your calendar:
Thanksgiving morning is the Cocoa Beach Turkey Trot 5K. This is the 20th year that they have this 5K that starts near downtown Cocoa Beach and meanders through the Cocoa Isles and Convair Cove subdivisions. They are expecting close to 2,000 runners this year! Dressing up isn’t required, but it does help you blend in with the crowd. More information can be found at http://www.cocoabeachturkeytrot.com/
Friday night street party and alumni weekend. Since a lot of the friends you grew up are back in town for Thanksgiving weekend, it only makes sense to have a street party, right? The city has shut down Minutemen Causeway between Brevard Ave and Atlantic Ave for the Art Show and is an ideal location for this party. If you grew up here or had friends that grew up here…there is a good chance that you will see them Friday night.
This is also a night that the high school classes get together to celebrate their 5 and 10-year class reunions. So, if you graduated from CBHS in a year that ended in a 3 or an 8…there is probably a private party with a few of your classmates. (2013, 2008, 2003, 1998, 1993, 1988, 1983, 1978, 1973, 1968, 1963)
Saturday and Sunday is the main event…the world famous Cocoa Beach Art Show. This Thanksgiving weekend tradition has been going on for 55 years! There will be 150 artists that are local and from across the country, great food (besides all your favorite downtown places) that include the Cocoa Beach Fire Department’s chili (this alone is worth a visit to Cocoa Beach Thanksgiving weekend)
