I doubt I am the only one who struggles to find a great gift for Mom at Christmas, her birthday, or Mothers day. If you are like my family, you brainstorm with your siblings. What are you getting her? I don’t know…what did she get last year? Has she hinted at anything? What about____???? The struggle is real…come on, its for Mom…it needs to be good!!
Thanks to my BNI chapter and a local print shop, I ended up getting her a great present this year for Christmas. Let me explain.
Earlier in the year, we did have a great family gathering at my Sister’s home in North Carolina. All of us “kids”, spouses and families secretly plotted to be at Gina’s for my Mom’s 80th birthday. Epic surprise and a rare event where we are all in the same spot at the same time. Needless to say, Mom was happy. So, this is one great idea for Mom-secret family gathering & have all the kids, grandkids, and grand-puppies there(Yes, our Pups are part of the family).
Lots of photos were taken. The talk was to gather all the photos to put together a Shutterfly book together of the event and to have the group pictured printed too. The book happened (Thank you Donna!) but the family print somehow never happened.
Fast forward to November to one of my BNI meetings. If you are not familiar with BNI, it is a networking group based on referrals. Our chapter is the Beeliners, we have 40+ businesses, and we work together to improve our businesses. We all have 45 seconds at the meeting to tell about our wants, needs, or success stories. This week April Balmer from PIP printing mentioned doing canvas prints for a customer which triggered a light bulb on what to get Mom for Christmas.
I could have easily gone online to have this made. Google “print a photo to canvas” and 300 million search options are available. The first couple pages are all various discount sites or links to Walgreens, Walmart or Costco to have them done. Probably would have been a couple bucks cheaper too.
Here is why I didn’t go that route and why you should consider a local print shop like PIP printing in Merritt Island. First, I know April thanks to networking. I joined this BNI chapter in 2010, where she was already a member of the group and had proven to be a good business person. (So, I know, like and trust her). Her company is here in the community and has employees that also live here in Brevard County. The money that goes into a small business like PIP Printing also stays in our area too. The taxes on the building she is working at, along with the homes of all her employees pay or local taxes too. They spend their paychecks here in Brevard County that then supports mine and your business which gives us the money to do the same. The circle of life.
PIP Printing is also a big supporter of local charities. One charity in particular that I am fond of is the Brevard Children and Families in Need (www.BrevardsChildrenInNeed.org ) they raise money and awareness for the 1600+ homeless children in our county. PIP prints the raffle tickets for this event. I know there are others she supports. (I don’t see easycanvasprints, vistaprinting, or any other online print shop doing this)
So, what can PIP Printing in Merritt Island do for you? The gateway for any printshop is a business card. Give them a try. They do a lot more than this too. Window decals, car wraps, flyers & brochures, signs for events, order forms, Rx pads for doctors, CANVAS PRINTS, logo designs…If you have an AC business or own a restaurant, every door direct mail is a great way to market your business and PIP Printing can do this for you too.
The day I was there picking up the canvas print, they were in the process of printing a book for a local writer. They can help with all aspects of printing and supporting your business. Yes, you should call April at PIP Printing (321) 452-2800, stop by their shop at 275 Magnolia Ave Merritt Island Florida 32952 or visit them online at www.PIPBrevard.com They certainly did a great job for me taking care of Mom for Christmas & I am pretty confident they will do a great job for you; whatever your printing needs might be!
